11 Reasons Why Sëx Is Painful For Some Women

S-ë-xx is not meant to be painful.
However, S-ë-xx is very painful for some women, for a number of reasons including size of the pënÎs/vag!na, health challenges and mental readiness.

Pain during or after S-ë-xx, medically termed dysparëunia, can happen during or after S-e-xx and could be felt in the vagina or the inner pelvic region.
However, all women should know that experiencing pain during or after having Sëxual intercourse could be the body trying to say something is wrong.

The best reaction once you notice it is to see a qualified doctor.

Here are the reasons for dysparëunia:

First time S-ë-xx – it is normal and common for a woman doing it for the first time to feel pain because the hymën is stretched abnormally. It can be very painful too.


Dryness, no lubrication – when the woman in dry in the vag!na, pënëtration is more than likely to bring sharp pain and even tears. Using a lubricant will help.


Mental block – S-ë-xx could be painful when the woman is not 100% ready for it. She needs to be emotionally and physically involved for it to feel good.


Infections – some S-ëxually transmitted infections (STIs) like chlamydia, gonorrhoea and genital herpes can also cause pain during Sexual intercourse to be painful.


Mënopausë – when a woman reaches the mënopausal age, her changing hormone levels can make her vag!na dry (atrophic vaginitis), leading to painful s-ëx. Lubricants will come in handy


VagÎnÎsmus – this is a condition where muscles in or around the vag!na shut tightly and make pënëtration very painful or even totally impossible.


Pëlvic inflammatory disease (PID) – this condition is an infection of the female upper gënital tract, including the womb, fallopian tubes and ovariës. It makes s-ëx painful.


Endomëtriosis – this is a common condition where tissue that behaves like the lining of the womb (the ëndomëtrium) is found outside the womb. It leads to painful/heavy mënstrual periods, lower abdomën, pëlvis and lower back pain, and painful s-ëx.

Fibroids –  non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb (utërus), near the vag!na or cërvix can also cause painful së-x.


Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) – this common, long-term condition of the digestive system can cause painful sëxy, stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoëa and/or constipation.


Constipation – this common condition that affects people of all ages causes stools to be hard and lumpy, as well as unusually large or small. It also causes painful së-x.



Unless it’s first time së-x, don’t ignore pain during s-ëx because it may lead to even bigger health challenges in the future.



The bottom line is that painful s-ëx is not normal and can be treated once you reach the health experts and explain.
